(Video brought to you by Phreak)
GREAT!
Now that you bought Fizz, allow me to show you some basics:
Fizz's Skills:
- (Q) Urchin Strike:
- Fizz dashes through his target, dealing normal attack damage plus additional magic damage.
- (W) Seastone Trident:
- Passive: Fizz's attacks rend his target, applying a damage over time effect that strengthens if the opponent is low on life.
- Active: Fizz's attacks are empowered, dealing additional magic damage and causing grievous wounds to his opponents.
- (E) Playful / Trickster:
- Fizz hops onto his staff, becoming un-targetable. He may then choose to slam the ground or hop off to another location
- (R) Chum the Waters (Ultimate):
- Fizz flings a fish that can bind itself onto enemy champions - After a brief delay, a Shark will emerge from the earth to eat the fish, dealing damage and knocking back all enemy champions.
- Nimble Fighter (Passive):
- Fizz's dexterity allows him to ignore unit collisions and take less damage from basic attacks.
Flash/Ghost: Both come to use, both give nice mobility.
Ignite: Great skill to finish off low-hp enemies. Standard on castor type champions anyway.
Exhaust: Not as good as Ignite, but still viable because it helps your teammates get onto the target.
Runes:
Phreak was right, if you're new to fizz, play him with defensive runes.
Quintessence: Health Regeneration
Marks: Magic Penetration
Seals: Flat Armor
Glyphs: Flat Magic Resist or half half like how I did it.
This set of Runes gives you the ability to regenerate from early game harassment in a lane, when Fizz is at his weakest. After early game, however, you can start trading attacks with your opponents.
However, Phreak was incorrect with the masteries. Don't play with Defensive masteries. Go Offensive ;)
Masteries:
I put 21 points into the offensive skill tree focusing on amplifying my Magic Damage.
I then put 8 points into the defensive tree for increased Health Regeneration Rate.
I put my remaining point into Summoner's Insight, a skill that gives me a lower cooldown on my Flash ability.

Abyssal Sceptor: Good against many AP champions.
Zhonya's Hourglass: Good against many AD champions and if you are the main source of Magic Damage on your team.
Early-Game Play:
- Focus on farming creeps.
- Focus on keeping alive.
- Try not to get zoned out.
Mid-Game Play:
- Fizz starts to get strong, begin trading hits with your opponents.
- Call people to help you gank your lane.
Position In Team Fights:
- Focus down enemy carries with your full combo of Q, E and R and then W to poke at your enemies as much as you can.
- Flash/Ghost in if you have to to get to your target.
- If you find that your ally carry is getting bruised by the enemy and nobody wants to help him/her, take the initiative to help! Fizz has excellent CC skills that can fend off enemies.
That's all I have for you guys.
